Pantherophis obsoletus
This dude is about 4–5' long, crawling waist high near my door.
Wooded hilly area, lawn kept short, but we feed birds. There are probably 6 Carolina Wrens on or near the house, for easy pickins.
It caused a rapid change of underwear! Wouldn't think of killing it, removed it to the ground, its little brother or sister came back the next night. I've sprayed the area with "snake repellant" oils (cinnamon, clove, ginger), but haven't seen them since. I think they're after a Phoebe nest on the underside of the deck (fat chance of them getting there!).
