Red-snouted Tree Frog

Scinax ruber

Description:

These small tree frogs (up to 1.5") are dark gray with dorsolateral stipes of light gray. The venter is creme colored with no markings.

Habitat:

These can be found around sources of water, in most of the amazon. This one was seen sitting on a cement block in back of our house in the Amazon rainforest of SE Ecuador.

Notes:

I have no idea why it is called the "red-snouted" tree frog. I've never seen a trace of red on the nose and I've seen, literally hundreds of them.
