Pterospermum acerifolium

Description:

Medium height tree. Flowers appear to have two whorls but the outer whorl that is yellowish-brown slim and elongated is made up of the sepals. The petals are white.

Habitat:

Urban residential area. This may have been planted as a shade tree. Right on the edge of a water body.

Notes:

India has issued a stamp in honour of this tree.
