Largemouth Bass

Micropterus salmoides

Description:

Caught and released. This is a dark olive green fish that gets lighter as it goes down the sides of its body with a white belly. They can attain a length of over 70 cm and upwards of 20 lbs, although most are much smaller. This one was about 15 inches.

Habitat:

This Bass had been stocked in a community pond and was released (into the water) after the photo :-)

Notes:

I know less about fish than most animals as I'm not a fisherman and they can't be readily observed in their natural habitat, but they are interesting.
