White-fronted plover

Charadrius marginatus

Description:

A pale brownish plover, discreet in colors - pale below and sandy brown above. The color of chest varies from white to rich buff. The bird also sports a black mask-like line starting at the base of bill, runs around eyes and connects to brown or grey crown. About 15 to 16 cm long.

Habitat:

I've seen this pair on a temporary sandbanks on river Congo, in June 2013. In that season, many temporary islands form on river Congo near Kinshasa; and they become a paradise for a birdwatcher... Otherwise, very common in sub-Saharan African coastline, estuaries and banks of large rivers.
