Bright red ladybug with black spots. This one just came out of the white and black pupa.

Habitat:

Pomelo tree in backyard. This beetle is native to Australia.

At first, I was very excited to spot this species since BugGuide didn't have any pics from California but now that it's quite established (in my backyard, anyway), I'm disappointed it's a non-native species.
We have this and Cryptolaemus montrouzieri all over the backyard. Guess I have my own mini-Australia here :)
