Austromalaya reticulata
The Brown Long-headed Shield Bug (Austromalaya reticulata) is a common shield bug found in and around Brisbane, although I don't often see them in my yard. Perhaps certain plant species that attract them are not found in my garden. Another common species that looks very similar is the Eucalypt Shield Bug (Poecilometis patruelis).
Found on my verandah underneath a Ponytail Palm.
Here's some info I found on the shield bugs - http://www.brisbaneinsects.com/brisbane_...

Thanks, Noveira. I don't think so, but then, I'm no expert. Here's that species as listed on the insect site - http://www.brisbaneinsects.com/brisbane_... I remember having a lot of trouble trying to ID this one, and Austromalaya reticulata is as close as I could get. Nothing else seemed to match.
Could it be Anchises parvulus?
