Unknown Spotting

Description:

This organism is a tree and is very similar to Banyan trees, though it has no vertical roots. The tree has small oval shaped leaves with of which are a medium green in color. The tree itself is tremendously tall reaching a height of about 25 feet easily. The outer bark is very smooth and a white, gray color though it varies in certain areas. The branches of this tree are very long and sturdy, creating a highway or network of intertwined branches. There seem to be small reddish balls of fruits at the top of the tree. The tree is very wide also and creates and umbrella like structure for the area underneath. The tree does not seem to have any blatant flowers growing anywhere.

Habitat:

These trees can be found across the Hawaiʻi islands and are very common. This specific tree was spotted at West Loch Park in Ewa Beach closer to the Waipahu regions. These trees strive in many different environments being seen growing in places like Ewa to Aiea. This tree grows very well in dry areas having a vast root system I presume. The tree is not indigenous of sorts and must have come from outside sources because it does not really resemble a native tree.

Notes:

The tree is excellent for climbing and is its own little ecosystem itself. While climbing this tree many types of insects were seen. There were at least five ant colonies within the tree as well. The wood is very smooth and an admirable tree to hang out in.
