Description:

In full breeding plumage, male is very bright yellow-green but for most of year colours are duller; female has grey-green plumage and juvenile is streaked. All birds show yellow wing patches and have yellow rumps and side to tail. Bill pinkish and conical, used for feeding on seeds.

Habitat:

Favours wooded terrain with plenty of open ground for feeding. Widespread resident throughout the Mediterranean.
