A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Panthera tigris tigris
A white tiger at the Henry Doorly Zoo in Omaha, Nebraska. This is a sub species of the bengal tiger. He was watching a young child very closely when I took these pics.

I agree completely, and I look forward for times when they could be and would be replenished to the wild and they could survive there on their own.
These ones are part of a world class breeding program at the zoo to ensure that they are around for generations to come. While I agree that being in the wild is better for them individually, until humans learn to respect them and their environment, there are not many other options at this point that will even allow them to exist as a species for any great length of time.
I love white tigers in wild. Just doesn't feel fair to keep it captive.
