A small brownish estrildid finch, with brown back and wings, whitish below and striped on flanks. Darker brown head, neck and nape, with bi-colored seed-eater bill.
Common in savannahs and grasslands and forest edges in all sub-Saharan Africa. Here, seen on edges of protected savanna/woodlands of Mukuvisi, outskirts of Harare.
