Looks like the "red eft" stage of the eastern newt to me; I was looking these guys up just a few days ago. Yours looks particularly red; really beautiful.

Unfortunately I wasn't able to fit my camera under to get the underside. I probably could have tried a bit harder, but I wanted to be sure not to bother them.

Oh yes, you're absolutely right; my mistake. I had no idea worms could be that big. Very awesome!

That's pretty big for an earthworm, and I don't see a clitellum. This might actually be a species of the amphibian order caecilian. Cool spotting! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caecilian

They look just like living fossils don't they? Very similar (visually) to a trilobite. I didn't notice them at first, but once I looked more closely in the rocks I found quite a few!

7yl4r Oak
Oak commented on by 7yl4r Texas, USA12 years ago

It was a little while back, so I don't remember. Usually I would get a shot of the leaves, but I wasn't focused on the tree this time. Speaking of trees though, what do you think of this one? http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/646...
The id on that one has been keeping me up at night.
