A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Very interesting story here. We found this in the wild. He had eaten a 2ft rat snake and wasn't doing well (couldn't digest). I caught him (very carefully) and central Florida zoo came and picked him up. He had surgery and is now a resident. My nephew who is an avid Herps fan spotted this guy. I was very lucky to be a part of it!! Found in Hammock Dunes in Palm Coast under some bushes by the patio.
This was right outside my bathroom window! Such a gift. I watched them build the nest and sat outside often. Surprisingly they were very nice to me : ) I have heard they can be aggressive. This was the only time I got close to the nest. I couldn't resist!!
The weird thing is if you look at the middle top of it there are two things that look like the tips of starfish arms....
It's a nice size... 12" tip to tip...2.5" wide
I love the one with all three!! They one was feeding the other two... Very cute.
Yes..... There were 5 total. They were raised and released by wildlife rehab volunteer
