A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
They are like a wild pig with tusks but in a different family. I put up the wiki thingy and stuff below. Check'em out. They run all over town here in Tucson. I never seen a perfect full skull before till I found this one way out in a canyon.
I suppose you could be right about the size. Are the broad-billed slightly larger than the standard humming bird? I don't mean to miss lead, I just remember it as a bit larger
@Liam I added a pic of the mama bird sitting on the eggs. Pic 5 I believe it is. Hopefully this will help. I would love to know what type these guys are.
I have about 100 pics of these two and their mama. I was lucky, they were in a place where I was able to easily watch (and talk lol) to them every day. After they flew out of the nest I still saw them. It was like they came to say hi around the same time every day
I wish I knew. It was taken in Ventana Canyon moments before we got stuck in a huge storm which turned to a freak Arizona snow if that helps. We also spotted an Ocelot that day and found later that they are very rare in that area
@Liam. Pic 1 is from the day they left the nest if that helps. Thank you for all your insite and help with iding my pics. I love taking them and you help me learn about them. Thank you
@christy These are all pics of the same birds in the same nest. I watched these little guys grow and they are all pics of the same humming birds.
It was a bit larger than a humming bird. About the size of a cactus wren
