Thank you for that link Mark, these pigeons are clearly painted. The pigeon in my picture what taken near a family park in Holland. In the park they have all kind of colored pigeons. This one was enjoying a day off in the neighborhood.

I thought it was a female mandarin duck, but I got confused by the orange beak and the brown patch on top of the head. Still I can't find any pictures ore information on changing young male mandarin ducks.
