A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
I'm a retired flight medic in N. Calif. I've always loved nature & the outdoors & now I have more time to indulge myself in them.
Chico, California
I've lived in California my entire life and have only seen one Parrot type bird before. It was a large scarlet macaw up in a tree near my home. I later found out that it had escaped from his owner and refused to go back. Not sure how it ended up but it was strange to see a large macaw in N. California.
You have a great eye for photography. Love your pictures
This fungus looks like something you would see in an old black & white 1959 horror flick. The Fungus that ate New Jersey. LOL........
Thanks Mark, I didn't notice the banding on the antennas until I down loaded the photos to view them. I'm still not sure how I didn't get this older one more in focus, lol...At this point the only camera I have is small Panasonic Lumix pocket camera but at least it has Leica lenses with a zoom. Not bad for a pocket camera. Soon I will have something a little better.
Hello, I only said wild zinnia because the leaves look a lot like a zinnia flower and they are wild in India. I could be wrong but thought it might help you narrow it down a bit. The web site I added has many flower species. Good luck.
This is a very interesting plant / flower. I have never seen one of these in California.
Are you kidding me. Why is that thing staying on your hand? I had no idea that a fly could get that big. I am really glad we don't have them in California.
