A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
A side shot would have clinched it, but I'm pretty sure that's what this is.
Ah! Thanks for clearing that up - I'll remove it from the DC-only one.
Thanks! And thanks for the mission suggestions. It looks like there are redundant missions though, no? "Wildlife of Metropolitan Washington, D.C." and "Wildlife of Washington, D.C."
A.k.a. Yellow Garden Spider. Nice find! I don't think I've seen these at Huntley, though I've found tons of them over by the river above Belle Haven. It'll grow up to be one of these:

What a great picture of a cute little cat! Thanks for drawing my attention to it. :)
That's a really beautiful one. Great color.
Excellent! So glad to see they're back - and I just had one in my yard yesterday! New yard bird! :) If only the morning hadn't been so grey and cloudy, maybe I'd have gotten a decent shot...
Very nice, and good job convincing it to sit still! I hear you picked up the Raynox - I see you're doing good stuff with it! :)
What an odd scene! But such stunning butterflies.
The color palette and size of the prey suggests Robin to me, but it's hard to be sure. I just can't think what else would match that size and color.
