I always find it interesting when I see a photo of a bird standing near a dock in Florida, and realize I saw one not too long ago standing in some water near a dock in Ohio. It makes me wonder what the odds are that it is the same bird.

The sad thing is, about five seconds after taking this photo a fish jumped out of the water and ate him. So goes the circle of life. At least he is forever memorialized on Project Noah.

Thanks Liam. I was a little cautious about the ID, but after looking a little deeper I agree with your suggestion. It looks to me that this is a female of the species. Which accounts for the spot on the wing and the more brownish coloring of the eyes.
