American Five-lined Skink commented on by Brian Parsons Forest Hills, Tennessee, USA10 years ago

You have two different skinks perhaps - Broad-head (bottom) and Five-line (top) - consult this reference: http://apbrwww5.apsu.edu/reptatlas/frame...

Looks like the central disk flowers of a Purple Coneflower, Echinacea purpurea

Brian Parsons Pink Dawn Virburnum
Pink Dawn Virburnum commented on by Brian Parsons Saanich, British Columbia, Canada11 years ago

I agree that this is a Viburnum of some sort. Many of the Asian species and cultivars are early bloomers and fragrant. My best guess is that this is:
Viburnum x bodnantense 'Dawn'

You can barely see the Question mark marking, but it is there in the lead image

Brian Parsons Unicorn Clubtail
Unicorn Clubtail commented on by Brian Parsons Rindge, New Hampshire, USA11 years ago

This is not a Unicorn Clubtail - see my link:
http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/739......

Looks to be a Delta-spotted Spiketail (Cordulegaster diastatops) or Twin-sptted Spiketail (Cordulegaster maculata)

Brian Parsons Paper Birch (Sunset Tone)
Paper Birch (Sunset Tone) commented on by Brian Parsons Maine, USA11 years ago

Hi - Paper Bark Birch trees have brown bark when saplings and undergo bark color changes that include the sunset tones in your images. Gray birch saplings and trees are more pure white throughout their growth stages. I would be hesitant to jump to a fungus as the cause of the bark color changes.
