Nice detail. I love this stuff! It propagates by spores, I think. Also, I am under the impression that it's been around for millions of years and forms the base of what has been fossilized and metamorphosed into the coal we're now using.

It's at Ashmore Heritage Preserve, off of highway 11, about a 40 minute drive from Rosman. I'd be happy to meet up with you there some time and show you the place. I go with my daughter every Saturday morning; about to head out to go there this morning. It's a truly beautiful and biologically diverse preserve.
Yep! There are Sarracenia rubra jonesii, Drosera rotundifolia, and Utricularia cornuta, all within a stone's-throw.
