Omg, Rachel, this took so much research, but i could tell it was a Caracara so:::: Carunculated Caracara. Note striations, yellow face and legs
Based on the eyes, and the purple smooth carapace smooth legs and pincers
The tail of a white tail deer is all white underneath with dark on top. The white tail with a black tip is a dead give away of a Mule Deer ( also the face shapes and markings can help distinguish, if tails are not visible)
I think this may be "Old Man's Beard".... also known as Clematis virginiana. Although I believe that "clematis virginana" may be a vine, and if this is like what we saw on our walk it would be a shrub, but at least that should give you a start
