I'm a good 20 miles from the coast so doubt they'd be sand lizards..
I think the North Wales Wildlife Trust may have correctly identified them as either palmate or smooth newts. They said to look for speckles on the throat which would identify them as smooth. I looked and cannot see speckles so suspect they are palmate.. :) thanks for your help. I will try and photo the underside when I'm back in the garden..
Ours too! Our climate is becoming wetter, warmer & stormier! Signs of spring come a little earlier each year. We are trying to become more resilient in many ways to face the climate change. The government won't acknowledge or act on climate change or the environmental catastrophes around us so we have adopted the attitude "change what we can in our own back yard" in the hope that others will too and the will for change will spread. Happiest with our feet on the earth & hands in the soil!
