Wow, I'm so thrilled to see this yet it saddens me that Ecuador is selling a third of It's rain forest to Chinese Oil companies. :-(

Thanks Alice. They don't even really damage the citrus trees, they only eat the leaves and they grow very quickly, and they're beautiful butterflies. When I let them go I like to think that the same ones come back to lay their eggs on the same trees. I'll try and take some photos of the butterflies this year. It's rare when I get to watch them emerge but when I do I'll have my camera ready.
They're like land corals with infinite varieties. I love them. This is very similar to my spotting. Could be the same variety. I'll try and find out what it is.
Thanks Christiane! I'll check it out
Thanks Alice. :-) I could spend all day on this site. lol
Great shot. Looks like a big moth.
Thanks Keith, Almost the size of a match box. I think this one may have been a juvenile because I've seen ones that were bigger and darker. I'll be taking more photos now that I've joined this great site.
wow! That's an awesome pic. I can't wait to get a better camera. I absolutely love arthropods just for the endless number of varieties you can find.
Thanks Alice. It's very beautiful in the forest in autumn when all the fungi appear on dead logs with so many colours. I was always lagging behind by about ten meters trying to take photos of them all.
