Yeah, now that i see the fruit --" gumnuts" -- its definitely eucalyptus.
I'm an east coaster, and we don't have much eucalyptus here, but I do recall seeing it planted in CA on visits there. It grows well in hot, dry places. Native to Australia I believe.
