I would assume it was fast since it took the shot, look at the picture in the camera, and by the time I had looked back up it was gone.
That is the beauty of photography, one can go back and re enjoy seen that spotting.

Thank for your help on my first butterfly spotting! It was hard for me to identify it, so I appreciate the help. It did not helped me that I was looking at my pictures as if it was the same butterfly.

It was probably about 8 to 10 feet deep. I was taking a picture of the other fish and they photobomb it. I turned to follow them but they quickly disappeared under the rock.
lol of course the camera was off! I hate when I do that.
