I in Eye -Jaclynne Cain, here is your spotting, http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/826...
Are you talking about this?
Perhaps your spotting is not the larva of Pachliopta aristolochiae; larva of Pachliopta aristolochiae should be black in color and with a white band. If you wish to check it, you can follow the link to Wikipedia. :)
omg...I wonder how far you were from the snake...this spotting is dangerous yet beautiful!!
SandiSawyerr, yea, I was stunned when I looked at this picture! When it flies fast under sunlight, the fast-moving shiny neon blue color makes it like electricity flowing through the air! Therefore, it has a Chinese common name called 電蛺蝶, which means "Electric butterfly".
Sorry that I haven't done any measurement with this butterfly, I have checked the field guide, It has a wingspan of about 70mm, hope this information helps~ :)
IrungbamJatishworSingh, thank you for your suggestion :)
Perhaps it is a member of the Asota genus because I can see some difference on the wing pattern between it and Asota speciosa.
It is truly a beautiful moth, no wonder someone will wrongly recognize it as a butterfly~ :P
Dear CindyBinghamKeiser
Thank you very much for your kind reminder. I should have fixed the problem now. :)
Best,
Gary
hi there, as i see it, it is probably not a butterfly but a moth instead.
