A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
I'm a student of biology and an amateur photographer, but I'm still learning a great deal about both. Hope my contributions are worthwhile!

Sign In to followThanks for the ID! I thought my guy was a little off to be a Squash Lady Beetle, but I couldn't find anything better. I appreciate the effort!
Thank you for the info :)
That seems like a reasonable ID. It's hard to tell because I think you're right, this guy is a nymph. Thanks for the link!
I didn't know about the database assuming Genus/Species, so I'll keep that in mind. Thanks :)
Hmm. Mine's a little paler than some of the others I'm finding online, but I think you're right. He's got the same patterning and he's about the right size...plus, they're described as the "most aquatic" of the tree frogs, and I certainly find these guys very close to (or in) the water. Thanks for the suggestion!
Thanks :) I wish I had had my real camera on me when I saw him. I had to take this with my cell phone camera, and by the time I went and got my good camera, he was long gone lol
Ah, another Carolina Mantis? Is this perhaps the male counterpart to the other I spotted? I assumed that the really wide abdomen of the other I'd found was significant to S. carolina, but I guess that has to do with sex. Thanks!
Thanks gatorfellows, that was a quick ID
