Thanks for ID, dear Ornithoptera80.
Beautiful photos!!
Dear, Ornithoptera80, thank you very much for ID.
Description:
Size 26–34 mm. Many light butterflies are often called cabbage butterflies (bryukvennitsy, repubnitsa, hawthorn), but the name is applicable only to large whites, without prominent dark veins and with a solid dark field on top at the top of the front wings, elongated along the front and outer edges. Bottom on the front wings are two black rounded post-discal spots. In females, these spots are also on the upper side of the front wings.
Habitat:
The species, originally widespread in the Near East and Central Asia, gradually captured the whole of Europe. Relatively recently introduced in the south of Siberia, the Far East and South America.
Notes:
Cabbage is one of the few pests of cultivated plants among day butterflies. Females lay eggs on cabbage leaves, less often on other cruciferous plants, with clutches of 10-100 pieces, while our other whites lay eggs alone. Caterpillars are blue-green, with yellow lines on the back and sides, covered with black spots of different sizes.
Thank you, Mark.
