Sign In to followYou have a St. John's wort (Hypericum sp.). Could be one of several species that are separated by small differences in leaf and flower. If I had to guess, I would say Hypericum mutilum.
This is a laurel (Kalmia sp.), I think bog laurel (Kalmia polifolia).

No, it was an industrial facility where I was meeting a client.
Could be Cornus kousa or Cornus florida.
This is an Aralia. It could be either Hercules Club (Aralia spinosa) or Japanese Angelica Tree (Aralia elata).
It doesn't necessarily need standing water to survive - more that it just tends to outcompete other plants in seasonally inundated areas. I would just plant it, pot and all, in the fall; then cover with leaves. It's pretty hard to kill :)
That's an uncommon tree. Good find!
