That's a little garter snake! One of the defining characteristics of all garter snakes is the rows of black dots down the underside that you can see in the third picture.
This is a kind I haven't seen yet, very cool!

Thank you for the comment, Ivan! It seems to fit much of those categories. I added another shot for you to see the other two that were around it, but as you can see, even the sunlight was begging me to take of picture of the original one. I am always happy to learn something new about the natural world!
I just posted the one other picture, though it is not good it is all I got before it flew off. Your species suggestion sounds familiar (my professor was a birder, yet I had forgotten)
