I agree with eastern newt but I did more searching, do you think it might be the subspecies of central newt? The orange dots don't seem to be fully encired

That's a cicada shell but I'm not sure what species of cicada. Very nice find!
Thanks for the help AshleyT, I was thinking small-mouthed salamander but I wasn't 100% sure before.

i looked at that link you gave david and i do see that narrow white strip on the end of the tail, i will further investigate haha
