I feel that it is either of these species but due to the overlap of their territories and the complicated taxonomy I cannot give you a definite choice between the two.

Thank you for your suggestion, Jeff. The nearest body of water is roughly 0.6 miles away. I have received another recommendation that she is a Pseudemys floridana (Coastal plain cooter), which seems to be a bit more on target because of the coloration of what I saw of her plastron. I used to keep a couple of these birds when I was a kid. They're pretty popular as pets, but they hail from the outback of Australia.
