can you give me a link? I think you are right but all of the photos on google don't look like mine. These were had a lot of mass growing off of hardwoods. The other photos look like they aren't as fresh as this one.

I'm all about the fungi. I really think they are the most interesting organism in the forest. They, along with bacteria, lichens, recycle and break everything down so new life can begin! So cool!

It was growing on a damp branch from a hardwood tree. I suspect it is a lichen, I have more photos that I need to upload.

Coriolus versicolor, I see online that turkey tale is listed as this. Can someone help me out. I know there is a fake turkey tail as well. I want to use this fungus for medicine but I am unsure about identifying it. Will the fake one hurt me?
