Yukocharter, they are indeed! exciting that the project has come full circle. released these guys, the offspring, in our family woods today- they flew off together through the trees. such a rewarding experience.
Very excited to see my cocoons burst open and see these beauties next spring! :)

black cherry leaves. I introduced willow as well, temporarily, so I could ease a handful of them into being released on a willow tree nearby. They took to it quite readily- but seem to prefer cherry if there's a choice.
side note: I'm currently raising a bunch of these- their size never cease to blow me away.
I've never seen a cecropia with spikes this color... they're usually red, yellow and blue. bizarre! wondering if the differences have to do with environmental/dietary differences...
I'm raising a batch of these guys right now- imagine 50 of them this size! it blows my mind on a daily basis. :)
