Janet, just as I thought, it is Paruroctonus boreus, very common throughout Washington. =)
This is misidentified.... Centruroides hentzi is found in Florida and surrounding states. Centruroides vittatus is very common throughout eastern New Mexico.
Isometrus maculatus is the only scorpion in Hawai'i. It is found throughout Oceania.
Great photo and write-up! It also occurs in the southern tier of counties in Nebraska and in a limited area of SW Illinois. It is very opportunistic and found in a wide array of habitats, including Padre Island. Have you seen the other scorpion in your area, Pseudouroctonus reddelli?
Nice photo, but it is misidentified. The dune scorpion has large hands and has no dark markings. =)
If you have this scorpion, you can send it or take it to Dr. Oscar Francke at IBUNAM in Mexico City. He can identify it or describe it if it is new.
Yes, definitely D. spitzeri! I've seen these all around Esplendor. Nice photo!
Scolopendra morsitans is an African centipede, but it does look similar. Scolopendra heros is found from Louisiana to Arizona, and is variable in color. This version is highly sought as a "pet"!
This is a Bothriurus sp.
