I would say don't risk it. I never wanted to even when I had male and female bettas because I didn't want them to kill each other, which from what I can tell from stuff from breeders is very likely.

I've never done it myself, but I did some research a few years back. It seems like you need really large tanks for attempted breeding, so that the male and female don't kill each other. Also, you have to remove the females after they lay the eggs so they don't eat them. The males will put the eggs in their bubble nests... it's really fascinating, and there are a lot of online resources if you do a search. :)

I've had quite a few bettas, I like the female ones too, they can be really beautiful. :)

Yep, his fins are just laying down because he's in a relaxed state.
