A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Zookeeper, wanderer, and a person people call when they find orphaned or injured wildlife. Enjoying learning about what's in my backyard.
Hmmm if I recall correctly it had orangish yellow under its thighs
What would be a way to differentiate these? This one, as you noticed was much smaller than the Grays I typically find. He was also making a very shrill chirp, which is why I thought he might be this type. I do live between two ponds, but not in a swampy area. I don't like to pin the exact location of my home for privacy purposes. Unfortunately, I realize that can throw off IDs.
I'm not sure what ultimately happened to him there. He was in pretty good shape when I took him there though. I had to take care of him over a weekend before I could get him there and he was well hydrated, eating/nursing well, and quite playful by that time. I always take rescues to a fantastic place called Walden's Puddle. They have a great reputation and I'm sure he was well cared for after I handed him off. Their goal is always to release if possible.
My bad. Finger must have slipped on the app. I know skinks are reptiles haha. I didn't realize all those looked the same as juvies. I'll switch it to a broader species ID. Thanks.
Well he was in my hotel room so that would make sense haha
Will do. The mother was extracted from the building he was found in several days prior to finding him in the ceiling. There was no way to reunite them so he was taken to a rehab center.
