A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Dear NatraList – The fruit in the photo is not edible. The name reflects the appearance that resembles a green apple. In fact – it is mostly hollow, and the plant contains a toxic milky sap. It is native to Israel, where this photo was taken. Israel is a major exporter of agricultural products to the EU, including UK. In fact, it is known as ‘Europe’s winter garden’.
Awesome photos! Caterpillars now have their own Facebook page - check it out to see other cool photos and post your images https://www.facebook.com/NationalMothWee....
Hi Carol,

do you know about National Moth Week? it's actually a global project that focus on moths and biodiversity. Karen from Project Noah suggested that i contact you about this cool project. everyone can participate, and moth week events are registered in 14 countries and 44 US states! I hope you will consider registering a 'moth night' with us! it does not have to be much, it can be just you at home. you can see more information at www.nationalmothweek.org. you can write directly to me at liti[at]nationalmothweek.org. i looked for your group on facebook and found a few 'nature lovers' - can you send me more detailed fb info? thanks.

looking for moths near an outside light is all you need to do... for more information on how to attract and photograph moths check out the 'resources' and 'attracting moths' page on www.nationalmothweek.org.
you'll find info on types of lights people use, and setups with white sheets as well as recipes for sugary baits.
There are a few NMW events in NY. Check out the map at www.nationalmothweek.org. Why not register an event yourself? It doesn't have to be big - even if it's just you in your back yard - we'd like too have it on the map!
