Sign In to followCongratulations on the SOTD! It sounds like a wonderful project. I'm still curious about why the villagers are ok with the elephants coming into their gardens and farms as it could involve a loss of daily food or products for market.
wonderful series of photos; especially like the first head-on view!
Beautiful flower; the first photo looks very artistic!
Very interesting spotting. Why is it that the people don't mind if the elephants even come into their farms and gardens to feed? Are they compensated in some way for the loss of income?
Wonderful series of a fascinating plant
Nice series! I saw a presentation by another photographer once about these primates and then he showed a photo of the people there to photograph them - there was a double line of dozens of photographers! Was that the case when you were there as well?
Thanks, Michael and Sarah! They are indeed very attractive raptors!
Thanks, Neil! They are beautiful birds. I don't think they hunt together. Last year, this or another one was perched above my little man-made pond for well over an hour; it finally plunged in and got a frog and just as it emerged from the pond another hawk flew in and tried to take the frog away! Fortunately, the patient hunter got away with its meal.
Hema, during breeding season these birds get a double crest of black and white feathers
