A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Thanks. TK, while the size of this one is pretty typical, the ones I've seen before were almost completely black. I'm not sure if this one was unique or a different age. We usually find them sunning along the bank of the swamp or on the side of the brook, they aren't usually crossing the bridge like this one. Cameron, I'll add it right now.
I mean, the dragonfly thanks you.
Hey Geodialist, I think you're absolutely right on this one. I appreciate the help, as I'd like to name them correctly but am certainly no expert.
Thanks. We see them now and again at a conservation area near here.
Thanks. The white patches are missing here. Is that because it's of a certain age or gender?
Great! Thank you. I will go with that identification. The difference is obvious now that I see it. He/she was very pretty but very active, this was the best picture I got after trying for some time. I spotted her on a short hike in the White Mountains. I can't remember if I have ever seen another.
Thanks. I think these mounds have been there for years, I was surprised to see them.
