I found an ID! They are bulblets of the roots of Dicentra cucullaria, Dutchman's Breeches: http://getyourbotanyon.blogspot.com/2009...

Can someone please help me identify this or point me to some other resources? I have tried googling to no avail. I must not be using the right search terms. I'm stumped!

Wow. All your recent spottings are amazing, great photos! Just wondering what your lens setup is? Did you get a 100mm macro?

Interesting. Thanks.

Wish I lived closer to the Boundary Waters. Unfortunately won't be going back until next summer.

Okay! I actually went through my spottings and added a bunch to the mission, including this one.

Can you see the spots on the glass of your lens? If so, just clean it with a microfiber cloth or get a LensPen. Otherwise they could be spots on your sensor. I have cleaned off spots on my sensor with a LensPen but you can also get more professional sensor cleaning kits, or take it to a camera store and have them do it for you. You would need to turn your camera on manual mode and turn it to BULB exposure, and hold down the shutter to look inside. They are pretty large spots, so you should be able to see them easily.

Wow! He really does blend right in. It took me awhile to find him in the second photo.
