Oh no! You are right, I identified this incorrectly. This does look like a leaf-footed bug. I understand they are harmful to the garden and are in the squash bug family.

Thanks for your help! This does look like some sort of bluet. I cannot find a good damselfly identification tool online and many of them look so similar.

This was taken with a Canon S5 IS in Macro.

It is a hairstreak, but I will have to catch one with its wings open to determine which type. It is extremely skittish!

Thank you. All the photos I see of the hairstreaks show a fuzzy body and he isn't fuzzy. Am I looking in the wrong place?
