Yes, it is the Tiger Moth. Thank you! I have lived in Virginia a long time and never come across this particular fuzzy caterpillar.

Thank you, I believe the fishing spider is correct. We have wolf spiders in Virginia and they do not compare for size to this monster. Also, she was lurking in a rock crevice over the edge of the water.

It is funny because I only have one pieris in my yard but lots of azaleas. I checked my azaleas and don't see a single caterpillar on them.

They do not bite, but they do spit green juice when you disturb them. Thank you for the help!

I have seen red-tailed hawks around here, but this one doesn't have a red tail. I agree with the juvenile Cooper's Hawk. How awesome. Thank you!
