Are you sure that's a moon jelly? They tend to be much rounder, with a distinct clover pattern to their innards, as well as four short feeding arms, and a very short fringe of tentacles around their rim.

That is definitely a wolf eel. The young ones are a mottled red, so this is an adult.

Ahah. I thought the roots were more for gripping though. I've seen them nestled in tree crevasses and around rocks, and they never seem to need much soil.
