Anyone know how this bioluminescence works? Is it at all similar to lightning bugs (fireflies)?

Sorry, I got a little carried away. Suggestion deleted.

I don't know how to send the link, but the mission is called Interaction between different species of Arthropods. I found it browsing under Missions- Global.

Very nicely photographed. I think this qualifies for the species interaction mission as well.

Thanks Keith. Would you happen to have any recommendations on a ladybug field guide or other type of book to help ID specific ladybug species? All I have right now is the Peterson Field Guide to Insects, which doesn't describe any species, except maybe two-spotted ladybird beetle, in any detail.

Thanks, I believe it is an elderberry. These are the only two photos I took.

Thank you both for your posts! I appreciate the ID and the welcome. This is a pretty cool app for an animal and nature geek like me. It is a beautiful spider, my orb weaver. I hope to improve my ability to identify the plants and animals I see. Apparently Project Noah will be helpful ;-)
