A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Hmm. I just read two different articles. One calling it a water stick insect and yours that says water scorpion. The one you sent looks and seems exactly like it, so I'll call it that. Thank you again MrsPbio! :)
Thank you so much MrsPbio!! Weird, when I found it I felt it familiar to a water scorpion! It actually says this one is a Water Stick Insect, I think. Pretty amazing! Thank you!
Wow!! Shape and color are amazing! Great find! :)
Yay MrsPbio!!! A firefly larvae!!! How exciting! Lol! :) Thanks everyone!
Thanks for the suggestions!
MrsPbio- Very similar to lacewing, except the head on this one... It almost acts as a snail or turtle. It pulled its head in if you got near it. No pincers either. I do think it may be some sort of larvae as well. They were everywhere. I hope I figure this out! :) Thanks for helping!
:) Amazing find. You are a talented photographer too!!
:) yes, they are young snakes. We went out to our family camp on St. Joseph's Island in Ontario, Canada. They were everywhere! Me and my boys caught 6 and put them in a bucket for a pic then let them go. :)
:) thanks Tiz! It was in my backyard. So beautiful. I just love it!!
