Great find and image , there are a few similar Eunica sp ,but I think E.norica is correct.
This looks like one of the Jewel Bugs ---Chrysocoris sp .
I think this is one of the - Polythore sp , possibly P. terminata.
They are tricky to photograph ,because they often hide underneath leaves .
The birds of the pacific slope of Costa Rica ,have less white on the side ,compared to birds on the rest of the Neotropic region.
It is very difficult to be certain from this image but I would say --Purple Finch --Haemorhous purpureus. Other possibility is a male House Finch ,but the colour favours P. Finch.
This is an Electron Pixie ----Melanis electron , probably Melanis electron melantho , the border colour can be yellow ,orange or sometimes red
