Was thinking shooting star also. Would be easier to tell if more of the photo was in focus.

I think I will go dig some more photos of the plant for you Susan. I used to stare in amazement at these plants. My parsnts would yell at me " get away from that it will kill you." so poisonous beauty is a great name too.

I think it might be Dantura. I just never noticed the thorny fruit.

Not sure it's sotol. Sotol has long skinnier floral stems. These look like some sort of Joshua plant. Not the tree.
