Thanks for the suggestion Hema, do you mean yellowlegs? I was thinking maybe Lesser Yellowlegs but it doesn't seem to have the spotted feathers and longer legs I'm seeing in other photos.. still not sure..

Now that I'm looking at this closer I'm not sure about it being a sandpiper.. maybe a wander tattler.. anyone have thoughts on that?

Nicholas - I don't think it could be a red shouldered hawk because it was spotted in western Canada and those are from the south east. Also this bird was quite small in size.
