Hi Alice, it is a rather unusual squirrel I'll give you that, but it is a squirrel (Family Sciuridae). According to Wikipedia: Head and body length varies from 35 to 58 centimetres (14 to 23 in) in length, and the tail is up to 60 centimetres (24 in) long, with an overall length of up to 118 centimetres (46 in).

Maybe, also the fact that it sat on the bottom - more like a scorpionfish than a lionfish, but the fins are very lionfish like!

Exactly. Females usually have the "power" to choose their mates, so she doesn't have to put all that energy into decorating herself. He on the other hand has to impress. Just the opposite it humans it seems sometimes!
